The Masse Shot

The masse shot is a very important shot to learn in the game of pool, it alone can get you around a group of billiard balls that may be blocking your object ball.  With the skill of the masse shot you will possibly extend your play by making that shot.  This ball or balls that are in the way may be very close to the cue ball, they are called a snooker.  A way of possibly blocking a person from making their shot, unless they can complete that masse shot and get around the snookering ball.

To make a masse shot you will have to apply english, to make a downward stroke onto the cue ball.  Your stick should be held almost vertical and you should bring it down sharply and you should not have much follow through on it.

Your hand that is gripping the cue should be brought down further than normal, and your other hand should have a few fingers raised to provide a groove for the cue. You will be able to understand just how hard the masse shot is to master but you can always practice it, and hopefully one day you will be able to complete the shot fairly easily.

Although the masse shot is not required very often, you could possibly be put in a position that it can be used to win a match.  So even though the shot is not used very often you should practice it for those moments that may come up.  With a graceful shot like the masse being used a win seems even more sweet to one who can complete this type of skill shot.

So again to ensure your game of pool is in fact getting better you will need to practice, and why not while you are practicing make the masse shot a part of that practice.  You never know when you might need it.
